Since its inception, the Mario Party series has consistently delivered enjoyable multiplayer party game action. While there have been many imitators attempting to cash in on the success of the Mario Party games, none have been able to fully emulate the series' balance of good pacing, endearing minigames, and solid production values. As the first entry in the series to appear on the GameCube, Mario Party 4 may represent a big graphical leap for the series, but the gameplay remains much the same. It's definitely a winning formula, but players who have already exhausted themselves on previous Mario Party titles may not find enough here to draw them back again.

As in the past three Mario Party games, Mario Party 4 is a minigame-based virtual board game with a strong multiplayer tilt. Instead of having a physical end goal to each board, the goal in Mario Party 4 is to travel around the board, collecting as many stars and coins as you can in the allotted number of turns. The number of turns in a single game is determined at the start of the game and ranges from 10 turns to 50. For some perspective, a standard 20-round game of Mario Party 4 will last about an hour. Players move from space to space across the board using dice rolls to determine how many spaces they'll move, and each space on the board has some impact on the game. Coins, stars, and other items are awarded and taken away, players are randomly moved to other sections of the board, and players are thrown into special minigames. At the end of each round, all four players will compete in a minigame, and the winner of this minigame is rewarded with coins. Once there are only five rounds left in the game, even more random factors are thrown in, some of which are so phenomenally powerful that a player in last place could potentially find his or her way into in first with nothing more than a little luck. Random chance plays a big role in Mario Party 4, which keeps everyone on their toes, but may occasionally prove frustrating, as it's possible for a player to perform spectacularly in the minigames and still not win the game.

And what would a party game be without enjoyable minigames? Probably rather boring, but thankfully Hudson has brought together a fun collection of diversions for Mario Party 4. The biggest strengths of the minigames are their accessibility and broad scope. Virtually all your core gaming skills will be put through the paces here, but very few of the minigames are too complex for a new player to fully comprehend the first time out. There are four-player minigames in which you'll have to dodge snowballs, outrun an avalanche, or race along a dangerously narrow path. There are also lots of three-on-one and two-on two minigames that require players to work as a team. You'll deflate giant thwomps with butt-stomps, score goals in a soccer shootout, and capture opponents using a giant crane. There are around 50 different minigames at your disposal in the party and story modes, which isn't nearly as many as have been found in past installments in the series. Though, really, this is probably a good thing, as it seems many of the less-than-stellar minigames and carbon-copy minigames have been stripped out, leaving you with a smaller but more enjoyable selection of games.

The control scheme of The Wind Waker is largely unchanged from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. Link's basic actions of walking, running, attacking, defending, and automatic jumping at ledges are retained. Link also uses the control system introduced in Ocarina of Time that allows him to "lock-on" to an enemy or other target. An addition to this basic control scheme is the ability to parry. When Link is locked-on to an opponent and not actively defending, certain attacks by the opponent will trigger a visual cue, a vibration of the controller, and a chime. Attacking at that point causes Link to dodge or parry then counter-attack from the rear or while leaping over the foe's head. This tactic becomes crucial for defeating armored enemies or bosses.

The new art style used in The Wind Waker gives Link eyes that are much larger and more expressive than in previous games. This allows Link to focus his gaze on approaching enemies or important items. For example, if Link needs to solve a puzzle by lighting a torch to set a distant object on fire, his eyes might turn to look at a nearby stick, giving a hint to an observant player on how to proceed.

As with all Zelda games, The Wind Waker features several dungeons—large, enclosed, and often underground areas. Link battles enemies, collects items, and solves puzzles to progress through a dungeon, fighting a boss at the end. To complete a dungeon, Link primarily uses a sword and shield. Other weapons commonly used by Link include a bow and arrow, a boomerang, bombs, and a grappling hook. Certain enemy weapons can be picked up and used, a feature new to the Zelda series.

The Wind Waker, like most Zelda games, includes many side-quests, such as the Nintendo Gallery. When Link is in the Forest Haven, he can use a Deku Leaf to glide to a cylindrical island with a hatch containing the sculptor Carlov and his gallery. Once Link obtains a color camera called the Deluxe Picto Box, he can take pictures of non-player characters and enemies, which Carlov uses to sculpt figurines. There are a total of 134 figurines to collect, but Link can only hold three pictures at a time.

After completing the game, the player can replay it with minor modifications:
Link starts with the Deluxe Picto Box, making the Nintendo Gallery side-quest possible to complete; Aryll wears a maroon dress with skulls given to her by pirates; Link can understand the Hylian language; and Link wears his blue crayfish outfit, as in the beginning, throughout the game, instead of the traditional green tunic and cap.

Another side-quest present in all Zelda games (except The Legend of Zelda, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks), collecting Pieces of Heart, returns. The Wind Waker also includes Treasure Charts, which are scattered throughout the Great Sea. The player can find these maps and recover them, then search for whatever is charted on the map. Treasures include Rupees, Pieces of Heart, and other various charts such as the "Big Octo Chart" and the "Island Hearts Chart".

Little Mac is back! Everyone’s favorite underdog from the 1980s joins the best of the original Punch-Out!! cast in a modern re-imagination of the series. Players will find familiar names like Glass Joe, King Hippo and trainer Doc Louis. These boxers come to life again in cell-shaded 3-D, complete with hilarious fighting animations and back stories that capture all the fun and flair of the original Punch-Out!! games.
The motion-sensitive controls of the Wii console mean that when players throw punches, Little Mac throws punches as well. Additionally, you can control hooks and jabs by combining motion control with control-stick movement The motion-sensing Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers turn real-life swings into on-screen punches, so anyone can play. The game can also be played with classic NES-style controls by turning the Wii Remote sideways.
Characters: Little Mac, Glass Joe, King Hippo, Doc Louis, Von Kaiser and newcomer Disco Kid. There are a total of 13 opponents for Little Mac to step into the ring with, 12 of which are returning from previous games in the Punch-Out!! series.
Special powers/weapons/moves/features: Players can obtain special “Star Punches,” which allow Little Mac to take more Health from his rival in a single punch. Players can now use multiple stars in a single punch for an extra-powerful attack.
Control options:
Motion Control (Wii Remote and Nunchuck controllers) Punch-Out!! uses the Wii Remote and Nunchuck controllers to simulate throwing punches. Use the Nunchuck to throw a left punch and the Wii Remote to throw a right punch.
Classic Control (Wii Remote NES™ style) Fans of the NES version and core gamers will be excited to see Nintendo has also included the option to play Punch-Out!! using the classic layout from the original NES controller. Use the 1 and 2 buttons along with the cross pad to throw hooks and jabs or to dodge.
